Merry Christmas from Honey Boo Boo

The amazingness that is Honey Boo Boo and her family recently posed for a quick holiday pic at a Georgia flea market (that's not made up):

Let's break this down for a second...

Mom: Actually a pretty normal face for her.
Sugar Bear: He's a sweet man.
Chubette: You love to see camo at Christmastime.
Punkin: What's her neck doing? Also, bravo on the normal nice outfit.
Anna and Baby Kaitlyn: A pretty good looking baby, honestly.

...then we get to Honey Boo Boo herself.

WTF is that green hair thing? Did she get it at "SSHHH, it's a WIG"? She's the best. Really. You can't train that kind of charisma. I honestly have no idea why she hasn't won any pageants.

Thinking back for a quick sec to the Kardashian Kristmas Kard, I can't help but think that on the wide spectrum of culture, I might have more in common with Honey Boo Boo and family than the Kardashian Klan. Talk about a sobering thought.

Christmas Tour De Texas v. 36.0

I'm literally reposting my exact post from last year. Once you read it, you'll realize how amazing and semi-insane it is that my parents have now done this for 36 years. It's kind of awesome of them.

Every year my family and I embark on a Christmas sojourn that rivals almost any road trip on earth. We started the Tour De Texas Today. Here's the route:

First, we leave from Houston (1) and head to Ozona, TX (2), which is where my dad is from. We enjoy Christmas Eve dinner and festivities with that side of the family. Then, Christmas morning, we have some "Santa time" and head to my mother's hometown, Pampa, TX (3) in time for Christmas dinner and festivities with that side of the family. A couple days later we'll hit the road back to Houston (1), which is the hypotenuse of the whole thing and the most excruciatingly long drive ever in the history of all time.

According to Google Maps, the total drive time is approx. 23 hours. RIDICULOUS. But, it's broken up over several days.

We've done this lit-relly every Christmas of my life. I honestly don't know another way. My parents started this tradition before they had kids and it kind of just stuck. It's going to be weird one day when I don't do it anymore (assuming I have my own family one day, but we aren't really anywhere close to that happening). I love seeing EVERY SINGLE person in my family for Christmas, it's great.

If you don't hear much out of me...that's what I'm doing. I plan to attempt mobile blogging...

So, what inefficient absurdity does your family insist upon at Christmas time?

Friday Newsflash!

Yes folks, it's back! And hopefully it's as great as ever.

1. The Kardashian Kristmas Kard has come out ...

... and its as absurd as ever. Though decidedly less asinine as the last two years (here and here), it's still pretty ridic. They do look pretty happy and cheery, which is an improvement. But, whats the deal with the not-alive kitty in the box?  But really, what is that? This whole scene is so just ludicrous to me. My family could not be more different than these jokesters.

2. What would the newsflash be without a little space nerdery? Welp, this could take the cake. Science out of the UK cites a planet that could, maybe, possibly, be supporting sophisticated life. More sophisticated than us! A mere 12 light years away, there's a star similar to our sun called Tau Ceti with five planets orbiting it (this is actual real fact). It's visible with the naked eye:

The furthest planet from the star, named Planet E, is the right distance and temperature to have a climate very much like ours. The planet is also MUCH older, so its conceivable that its inhabitants are much more advanced. This excites me to no end. Let's think for a second about these supersmarts living out there knowing all the stuff we don't. Do they know why there's a dead kitten in Kardashian Kard? Bet not.

3. We haven't even talked about this:

Kate Middleton is pregnant. PREGNANT. As you know, the Royal Wedding was a big event for me. I'm so addicted to WillKat, it's unhealthy. I want to be a princess. I want to be a pregnant princess. This is the most important bump watch of my life ... and that's a statement coming from me. I haven't even dreamed about her getting fat and undesirable as a preggo ... also a pretty significant remark. Royal bump watch will remain a news item for me indefinitely, so just strap in for lots of chatter about it.

4. There's now Girls nail polish:

So, Girls is one of the new things I've gotten addicted to while we've been away from each other, but more on that later. I have some questions about this nail polish line. First of all, why does the set cost $45? That's alot of money for nail polish, and I buy the good stuff. Aren't the Girls barely paying their rent? Isn't that part of the Girls' appeal? How did they decide on the colors for each character? I like Shoshanna the best but am the least like her. How did they not read my mind on that? Also, I'm super annoyed at this brand expanding to stupid lady products. Girls is better than that. Or so I thought. I'm not better than it though, I like all the colors alot and will probably pre-order. Dammit, I'm such a slave.

5. The world didn't end. Really. I must admit, I was looking forward to feasting my eyes on something like this:

Yesterday I had this whole, "what would I do if today was the last day of Earth", ex-essential crisis thing. Like which love ones would I call, where would I take the Prince on his last walk, what would be my last meal, etc. (The answer to the food thing is chicken nuggets and macaroni & cheese, btw.) Now I guess we just go back to perusing the internet for nail polish and  princess baby bumps. It brings some sobering reality to my life. Womp, womp.

Back to Christmas elfing! Thanks for coming back friends. Feels good!

Insta + Lately

Though I'm kind of feeling like I'm in a girl fight with Instagram over this new terms of service nonsense, I'm LOVING my sweet blog friend (and fellow Austinite) Jenn's new link up:
Here are a couple little goodies I've been Instagramming lately:
Both boys have now partaken in the annual presh-fest that is the reindeer cat hat. It is a hat for cats. And we make them wear it. Comedy gold.

The Ginger recently took me on a stay-cation at the historic Driskill hotel in Austin. Get a couple of whiskeys in him and the man cannot resist serious cowboy faces. That's especially exhausting in a hundreds-of-years-old Texas hotel.

Company Christmas party. Fancy.

Scroogey poodle. One of many random "I love this creature, must photograph" moments I have each day.

Zilker Park Trail of Lights. What is it called when kiddy things can double for romancey things? I don't know, but I love it.

Welp, that's all folks, go check out Jenn's blog!

Literally Nothing Else On My Mind Today

How could there be when THIS is happening around the internet:

Yes folks, that's right. It's a precious apricot toy poodle taking itself for a human-style upright walk:

It's almost the same size as my prince baby and has nearly an identical (albeit apricot) face. I can't stop watching.

My favorite hashtag that I almost never get to use: #poodlenews

Calling all Instagrammers!

Have you heard of Instaclaus?

It's a super cool Instagram-based giving campaign. Here's how it works: check out their site, choose a kid you'd like to help get a gift this year, then Instagram photos of their item with special hashtags. When each kid gets five uploads, they get the gift!

Why not help out?!

While you're at it, find me on Instagram here.

I'm Baaa-aaack!

Well hello there blog world.

What's shakin?

Long time no see!

I've been on a little bit of a hiatus. No big reason, just needed to take a step back, think about my Poodle-izing and refresh a bit. I've got a brand spankin' new design! I'm still working out a couple of kinks, but I love it! I've missed you, blog world.

This fall, I've been in somewhat of a whirlwind. A tornado storm of FUN, if we're being honest. Here's just a quick photo recap.

I've been...

...discovering new cities:

Nashville, TN

Tuscaloosa, AL

...and making new friends while I'm there:

... reconnecting with and celebrating old best friends:

... learning how to make Thai food:

...enjoying Movember:

... learning how to make home-brewed beer:

...welcoming new little lovebugs into the world:

... bringing the Ginger home for thanksgiving:

(...and letting him talk me into going to Sears on black friday. HUGE mistake)

... getting weird for another Halloween:

...attending another ACL festival:

... kickin' it with my closest partners in crime (of course):

...and now am officially in holiday mode:

PHEW! I'm a lucky little lady when I look at it all this way.

I'm happy to be back. I'll be resuming my normal blog-reading, too, so leave me some lovin and I'll be sure to check out your blog!

XOXOOX. Missed you.
