Facebook Dumping. How?
Internet friends, I need help.
Lately I've been feeling like I need a Facebook friend purge. There's just too much crap. Too many people I met once at a bar. Too many high school people I don't need in my life.
I know too much about people I shouldn't. WAY too much.
Now, here's the tricky part: I want to get rid of the crap, but still be able to creep out (i.e. stalk people's wedding gowns and babies) when needed.
I found this helpful graphic on Pinterest (of course):
So tell me, how do I go about this? Just sift through my list and try to guess people who won't notice? I don't want to be rude, or at least be secret rude.

I definitely went through a purge about a year ago-- it felt so good! I didn't really think about if they would notice, I just flat out deleted them. My criteria was pretty much if I had never really talked to them, we weren't really friends in high school, or if I wouldn't want to talk to them now. If they fit those-- goodbye!
ReplyDeleteMy criteria is basically - do we talk on a regular basis? do I comment on their things? do they comment on mine? Okey doke...bye bye.
ReplyDeleteI just did a major purge- 200 people. If I haven't spoken to them in 2 years and they're not family, they got cut.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! I recently purged and got rid of about 80 people. Some people who talk too much, some people I talked to once to catch up and also some people who I decided don’t really need to know so much about me, my kids, etc. A few people noticed and asked me back a few weeks later. Awkward. And I’m too nice so of course I added them. Facebook is tricky. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI go through & purge my friends list rather regularly LOL ... Just go for it ... and if someone notices/wants to be friends that badly they will re-request you ... most people don't even notice you unfriended them lol.
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad you just posted this!! I need to go through and delete too! Catty college "friends", random old classmates that friended me when we did a project... one time!
ReplyDeleteLOVED this chart... "does this person generally wish me well and should share in the joys of my future?"... no? Delete.
Thx girl! I need the confidence to do this!
PS - Thought of you and our common love for Disney princesses when I read this...

Enjoy! :)
I love this post! I delete friends all the time if I haven't talked to them in over 2 years. I ask myself, what have I needed to know about them in the past two years? Have fun! Love the graphic!!
