Off the wagon - help

Hello all! I need some help.

I've sort of lost my mojo. The last few weeks I just haven't been able to find any motivation - for anything. I haven't been blogging, I've gotten out of a healthy workout routine (which ALWAYS screws me), I've been impatient in my friendships and have not had generally a winning attitude. Why now? Not sure.

I had something of a stressful week in Dallas last week. I had to be there for work for 4 days and it ended up being a busy, stressful, rollercoaster.  Lots of work and generally being back in my old stomping grounds kind of sent me through the ringer. Although a semi-unpleasant week, it might have been just the kick in the pants I need to get things going again.

I found this, and I think it's really true:

So, I'm brainstorming ways to maximize the denominator.

I joined a gym today that I'm really excited about (and kind of can't afford - oops), so I'm hoping to get the old muffin tops under control asap. But, as it relates to the other stuff -- finding good blog ideas, being kind to everyone I know (no explanation for my recent grouchiness), thinking of new and fun adventures, generally just getting my world together -- do you have any good ideas?

Tell me, internet. How do you get motivated? What inspires you out of a rut? Let's all just assume that wine is already a major part of my happiness regime.

I'd love ideas.

  1. I'm so sorry you feel a little out of it. But you know what, we've all been there, so helping each other get back on track is what we girlfriends do!

In terms of getting into a better mindset, make a list of all the things that make you happy, that you enjoy. Focus on making time for these things in little ways.

Going for a walk with Prince before work. Schedule a lunch date with a friend that lifts your spirits. Pack your gym bag in the morning, so you can squeeze that 30 min workout in.

In case you need some general life, adventure, or blogging inspiration, I feel inspired by pinterest and what other people are blogging. What posts excite you? What do you love reading.

The bottom line is whatever gets you excited is where your heart and passions are. Go get it girl! E-mail me if you need any ideas/motivation/help! :) You're never alone!

  2. I totally can relate! Things can spiral out of control when you least expect it. I feel by writing things down like a giant "TO DO" list really helps me realize what exactly I need to fix. As far as working out - I like group classes or working out with a buddy so I follow through with that commitment. I wish I had more for ya, but I'm a lazy preggo beached whale at the moment ;)

  3. I agree with Meg. I do well with to-do lists. Once I cross something off I feel so accomplished, so I aim to finish things on my list! I'm sorry girl, I get stuck in a rut all too often myself!

  4. I'm feeling the same way lately. I'm unmotivated, EVERYONE is getting on my nerves and my to-do list is out of control! This might be bad advice, but I usually just take some time off. I eat junk food, take naps, watch endless hours of TV, let the house get messy, etc. For some reason it works for me and I feel more ready than ever to get things done after I’ve done absolutely nothing for a while.

Thanks for the comment! I"m sending you a big cuddly warm bearhug through the interwebs....
