I fell in to a burnin' ring of fire

No, but really, ya'll. Central Texas is on lots of fire. If you haven't heard, this weekend, crazy wildfires erupted all around my little corner of the world. We got a cold front (which actually has been AWESOMESAUCE) with lots of gusty winds.

Drought + wind = FIRE.

These are REAL images from Bastrop, TX (which is freakishly close to where I live):

What. The. Heck.

The wildfire in Bastrop County has now burned around 30,000 acres, destroyed nearly 500 homes and forced 20 neighborhoods to evacuate. There is 0% containment. Literally, they can't put out a single percent of the thing.

So far I'm safe in downtown Austin, but several other pockets around the area have been affected. I can, however, see smoke on the horizon and can smell it. Cah-RAZY.

Un-containable fires make me think the apocalypse is near. Call me paranoid, but flames are literally engulfing us. What else could this be?

So, internet, think all of your happiest thoughts for the people and firefighters all up in this situation. They need help. If you want to donate, go here.

If you don't hear from me for the next couple of days, I'm either swamped with work or am on fire. Let's cross our fingers that I'll be engulfed in metaphorical professional flames.

In the meantime, this is in my head:

Johnny Cash has sexy voice. Can't get enough.

Please send the good vibes to the fire victims and firefighters.

  1. Hope you are able to stay safe and away from flames!

  2. I totally have Johnny Cash in my head now. but seriously the fires are SO scary! praying for rain!

  3. This is so scary! Praying for rain and everyone in central TX!

  4. Yikes! Stay safe...sending rainshower vibes your way!

  5. Scary!!! We have a fire going here too, but it's in the mountains.

Thanks for the comment! I"m sending you a big cuddly warm bearhug through the interwebs....
