Have I ever told you what a badass Adele is?

Don't believe me? New idol:

Adele wouldn't be huffing and puffing in her living room like an idiot to a Jillian Michaels DVD, she's be out making herself more badass in some other, more fun, way. Since I'm not Adele, I've gotta sweat it out with Jillian (which by the way, is SUPER hard).

I'm aware Adele isn't exactly news, but I've recently gotten really into her music and am LOVING her newest album, 21. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, but but I'll warn you, don't buy it if you're breaking up. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet of emotional chaos....

Anyway, I've got a girl crush on her like you wouldn't believe.

Got any other hot music tips for me to check out? Please.

Television mindless enough to force me to read a book

Can we just talk for a quick second about trashy, brain-rotting, reality television....that I'm OBSESSED with?!

I've been catching up on this season's gripping plot in the Real Housewives of New Jersey. I watched like 3 episodes last night and I haves some thoughts...

Joe and Theresa Giudice shooting guns makes me truly afraid for humanity.

Caroline and Albert Manzo are so cute and in love. If I ever try out this "husband" thing, I want one as sweet as him.

Teresa's brother is a famewhore....even more than her.

Jaqueline's face doesn't move much these days....

(sorry to hate on her, she's one of my faves)

And now for the real remark in all of this....ALBIE MANZO IS (still) A TOTAL BABE.

I've talked about this before, but come one people, is he not just the dreamiest?! He's even the same age as me! It may just be perfect! Am I way off base here? Tell me he's not a stone cold fox. You know you agree.

After I melted my brain cells for a coulple hours, I started a book. I haven't read in a while and it felt great. I began The Help by Katherine Stockett....

...and couldn't put it down. I stayed up way past my bedtime and got through the first 100 pages or so. It's going to be a movie soon, YES! I'm loving it and can't wait to resume tonight.

Anyway, just thought I'd melt your face off with what a dynamic and complicated woman I am. Watch out, I'll watch reality T.V. and go straight into a serious social criticism novel on you. I'm just that well rounded.

Joke, ridiculous joke. We all know serious novels are a rarity for me. How's your Wednesday?

Target Tuesday - I'm gettin' ripped.

Today, I went to thebestplaceeveronearth Target during my lunch break and bought this:

I've gotten lots of recommendations that her DVDs are the BEST. So, I figured with all the time at home I've recently come into coupled with my need to get into a bridesmaid's dress like insanely soon.... What the heck, I can give anything a whirl for 30 days. Also, it's so hot outside I can barely function, let alone work out (It's a story for another time, but weirdly, this summer feels like 400% hotter than past years. I think this means I'm for real getting old. Boo.)

So, have you done this? Any tips? Is this a good idea? Is she so mean I'm going to cry? My first workout will be later this evening, so stand by for a recap.

Since I already partook in the Targ for today, I thought this would be a perfect little way to participate in Tara's Target Tuesday over at Fabulous but Evil. You should too!

Enjoy your Tuesdays, lovelies!

Country-fied Poodleist

Happy Monday all! I'm fresh off of a fantabulous weekend. Yesterday, I was lucky enough to get to travel out to the gorgeous Texas Hill Country for a friend's birthday party. One of my girlfreind's parents live on a giant ranch in Boerne, TX and she threw a birthday pool party for her fiance out there. I loved every second. This iPhone photo doesn't do it justice....

From the backyard you can seriously see for miles. It makes me feel so calm - and that's a statment considering my current gypsy life.

We also went on a spin around the ranch to check out all the animals. I got to feed horses, donkeys and cows! My friends couldn't believe how unscared I was in the middle of the herd:

I had a total blast. I scooted myself into the middle of the herd to pick up the food nuggets (which are DISGUSTING) and found myself totally surrounded. A small panic ensued. It really is a little intimidating when you think about how giant these things are. It blows my mind to think that even though I have a brain that's like 100 times better than a cow's, they could maul me at any second. It's a little bit weird to get that persepective on your own human frailty.

Anyway, great times with friends were had. I love, love being surrounded by the ones who know me best. It's starting to hit me that I'm going to get to do this all the time now...amazing feeling.

I think the peace is slowly creeping in...thanks, day at the ranch, you're the best!

Happy Friday all! I'm sort of starting to get the hang of this whole "work from home" business, but it's been a weird adjustment. I haven't had a proper, all alone, full day of work in my new home yet. I'll hopefully have some exciting news about a move-in date soon!

1. GEORGE CLOONEY IS SINGLE Y'ALL. George is reclaiming his title as the seki-est bachelor in the world, maybe of all time. George and his ex girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, announced their split this week "We're not together anymore. It's very difficult and very personal," they said. No details have emerged. How boring, right? I'm ready for something juicy about him to emerge. Hi, Elisabetta's tell-all book, where are you? The two were together for two years. Juiciness or not, he's baaaa-aaaack! YES. And now, for the best photograph ever taken:

2. Americans are crappy time managers. Surprise, surprise. New studies show that Americans work, on average, less than four hours in a normal business day. This finding is six minutes less than the same results gathered in 2009. Not only are we barely working, we're spending the time doing leisure activities, rather than exercising or learning new skills. Duh. Right? Hi, where do you think Poodleism comes from? I think it could be classified as "learning new skills," but I guess I'd be reading trashy gossip blogs anyway, now it's just in the name of "research." Hee hee. According to the same survey, we're sleeping at watching more TV, also. Great. I thought we were supposed to be "winning the future." Really, we're all just lazy fatties. I guess it's not that shocking. Can I consider reading the Wall Street Journal (where I found this article) as something other than "leisure"? I think I have to. The ratio of leisure to learning in my life is embarrassing.

3. There may be a women's revolution happening in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Princess Ameerah al-Taweel is gorgeous and fabulously wealthy. She has a college degree and doesn't wear a veil. These things are very rare in her country.

This week she went on the Today show and hinted that she's over the sexist, conservative Saudi culture. This glamourpuss is dead-set on being able to drive a car in her homeland, where it's illegal. She is determined to bring full-scale "basic rights" to women in her country, including driver's licenses. I bring this to your attention because I love revolutions. I plan to watch this story closely, women obviously deserve to get to do all the stuff they want. I like when pretty people do what's right in the world. Heck, ugly people too. Anyway, you'll be hearing more about this from me, I hope she's successful!

4. Octomom is getting a dating show. That's absurd in is own right, but she also makes my quote of the week:
"I've never dated. This is actually the first time I have dated in my life. I've had one boyfriend, it was very fascinating to me; it was an unforgettable experience. I am painfully shy and anxious .. that's just my personality. So it's difficult for me to interact and to have eye contact." -- Octomom, Nadya Suleman
First of all, who wants to date her? Look at all these babies:

Secondly, who wants to hear any more about her, let alone watch her freak-o face on the television? Not me - on either counts. Thirdly, "I'm painfully shy and anxious." WHAT. THE. HELL. This from the woman who used her uterus for fame. The woman who's ridiculously selfish fame grab affects nobody but the 8 babies she can't support. The woman who pitched several reality shows for herself ...that woman. The only thing that really interests me about this is the men who will turn up to vie for her love. Talk about cream of the crop. I might have to watch...in the name of blog research. I can't help it, I have to.

5. Cigarette cartons will soon have sick photos on them to make people stop buying them. They're seriously yucky. Go here to see them. I don't want to post, they gross me out, which is their intention. Beginning in 2012, all cigarette packs will have the ugly on them. I'm not a smoker and I wish people wouldn't do it, but this seems a little far. It kind of reminds me when the anti-abortion people would come to campus and put up GIANT photos of sad dead babies. Did you have that at your college? I guess I'm just not a fan of scare tactics. But, I have a few people life that I love dearly in my life that I wished would quit. Maybe this will help.

6. There have been "quiet discussions" about a DESTINY'S CHILD REUNION. I'm FAH-REAKING out. I was a huge Destiny's Child fan, which segued into my giant Beyonce fandom. It's stuff like this that really explains my love for them....

Total fierce-ness. TOTAL.

Supposedly, Beyonce's latest album, 4, is looking like it's going to be a flop. Record label execs asked her to re-record parts of it to include more hit songs, but she refused. So, preparing for the worst, they're in early talks of a possible Destiny's Child reunion to recoup some of their losses. Their loss is our gain, ladies. I hope they do this. I don't want B to fail, but I really want more Michelle and Kelly. YES! Cross your fingers! In the meantime, bask in the greatness that is this, and this...but mostly THIS.

7. As always, Gaga is keeping us interested. She recently appeared on stage like this:

I'm all for colored hair, I've recently taken a little forray into it myself, but pubes? Come on. This takes the "carpet matches the drapes" thing to a whole new level. Pubes make me tense. That's just that. But, I do like her color choice. That Gaga, what will she think of next?

Smart and Trendy Moms

I'm MEGA excited about my weekend! I have a very Austiny fun-packed weekend on the books, including a birthday celebration of one of my favoritest new (or new-ish) additions to my friend group! Yes! What've you got in the works? Whatever it is, soak in as much of it as you can! Hearts.

Fill in the Blank Friday!

Happy Friday gang! I'm extremely ansty to get through this day and on to a superfun weekend. I like today's Fill in the Blank Friday. I actually have alot of real work to do today, but, I think blogging should probably take precedent, don't you?
1.   The last thing I ate was       a cobb salad from one of my favorite Houston (I've been here for a couple days while I'm still gypsy-ing it up) restaurants, Barnaby's. I'm trying to get back on carb-less eating as much as I can because I've got to squeeze myself into a bridesmaid dress way sooner than I'm comfortable with. oops.

2.  The next thing I'd like to eat is    breakfast. I wake up hungry every single day and can never skip it. Today, since I'm home, I'm waiting on my mom to figure something out for me. Do you still do that when you go home? Will I ever be too old for that?

3.  The best things    in life (for me) are the things I do just for myself. I love the few hobbies that I have that are easy, cheap and just calm me. Examples include: going for a run (but that's been off the table because of my gimp ankle), baking, blogging and of course dog walks. I guess the baking and dog walks relate to others, but it doesn't feel like it. :)

4.  Something that makes me supremely and utterly happy is   just relaxing with the Prince. I've really started to get poodle withdrawals. My parents have been keeping him while I'm bouncing around and these last couple of days with him have been totally sublime. I'm even willing to overlook him jumping in my bed with ridiculously muddy paws this morning...he just HAD to deliver some good morning love. Worth it. Sometimes I wonder if I'm too addicted to his affections...

5.  Sports are     fun, and I enjoy watching and being a fan - to a certain extent. I love the festiveness and spirit of UT games, but honestly the outcome of the game doesn't really mean all that much to me. There are many men in my life (that are close to my heart) who I'd wish would chill out on the sports crazy fandom, but I gave that battle up long ago.

6.  I miss    having a kitchen. There are few things I enjoy more than trying new recipes and cooking for people. I don't know when this interest/love kicked in for me, but all of a sudden one day, I like domestic things.  It's so strange, but I love it. That's one thing I'm looking forward to about having a roommate, she gets to try all my creatitions - and she'll tell me the truth.

7.  Right now I am       waiting for my coffee to kick in. For some reason it's slower than normal, but that could just be a Friday thing!

Did you have a 90's childhood?

Yes? You'll love this.

No? You can have one too, thanks to mashup magic.

This video is a ridiculous memory-jogging adventure...just watch:

That video is like Girltalk is in my brain, stealing my memories, making a masterpiece out of the pop culture nuggets I forgot were resting between my ears.

My favorite moments:

"When a boy meets WOOOOOORRRLD"

"Duck tales, wheew-oo" song

"Where in the world is CARMEN SAN DIEGO?"

Watch Vol. 2 here. There are some pretty genius tidbits in it too.

Mindless blog posting today, It's been a long and busy week....know that feeling?

Which items from the mashup blew your mind? Lets take this walk down memory lane together!

Hello, Summer! I'm glad you're here.

Today is the first official day of Summer and I'm psyched.
Although I'm still WAY behind on my endeavor to get into super sexy swimsuit shape, I'm pumped up for a summer in Austin. It's one of the best places to be when the temperatures climb. There's water fun to be had all over town. These are the things I'm looking forward to doing this summer:

1. Paddleboarding

It's a hot new thing on Town Lake this summer. You can rent these things by the hour. I'm determined to try this and get a hot famous person bod doing it. It was all the workout rage with celebs like Nicole Richie, Kate Hudson, Alessandra Ambrosia, and Jennifer Garner last summer. So, it's about time for me to give it a whirl. I expect to be bad at it. Balance + Upper Body Strength isn't something that seems like it will be a cinch for me to master, but I can't wait to try!

2. Snow Cones!

There is a famous (or at least in my book) snow cone stand in Austin called Sno-Beach. I plan to go all the time. The line is usually long, but it's worth it. They make some flavors with Splenda, too!

3. Barton Springs Pool

Barton Springs is a sweet place that I haven't been in years. The pool is spring fed, so the water stays super freezing cold all year long. Even if it's 100 degrees outside, the water is shockingly cold, but extremely refreshing. It's a fun place to lay out and people watch. Want to go like right now.

4. Friend's Wedding in Colorado

One of my fave buddies (same one as the bachelorette this weekend) is getting married at a glam Westin resort in beautiful Beaver Creek, CO in July. I'm excited to escape the Texas heat a big and explore the mountains for a long weekend. I think the weather may be perfect. It should be a super fun trip, and is really my only proper vacation planned right now.

5. New home and best friends....

I'm getting close, dangerously close, to having it all figured out. Cross your fingers. I need all the prayers and well wishes you can possibly send...

Happy, Happy Summer friends! Hope you have exciting things on the horizon!

Photoblog Greatness

Hello all! I'v just had a fantabulous bachelorette party extravaganza and am totally wiped out. My brain is majorly in Monday fuzzy mode. I get this most Mondays, but today seems to take the cake. There could be some other things behind this situation - such as the extreme limbo-ness that my entire life is in right now - but I'm going to blame 48-hour debauchery marathon...it's just easier.

So, today I've been GIGGLING it up at some new photoblogs I've recently become addicted to...

Paula Deen Riding Things
Wait, is it just Paula Deen riding random thins? Yes, yes it is. And yes, it's genius. Go see the complete hilarity here, but enjoy this little taste:

Magic School Bus.

"Deen back. Deen back."

You can even make your own "Paula Deen Riding Things" creation. Go here to learn about it. I'm working on a genius plan for one...

Birds with Arms
Can't totally figure out why I love this so much. Sometimes, weird things are funny. That happens more often than not with me. See them all here. This is just, you guessed it, birds with arms....

Looks like he's considering the next movement of the syphony he's writing.

Just waitin' for the bus, headed to the mall. You know, normal stuff.

Hood rat bird.

Catalog Living
Now for this one, you just have to go to the site. This one focuses on the RIDICULOUS nature of interior design photoshoots. They really are absurd It's all about the captions, not the images themselves...but here's a favorite:

"Gary glanced to the left of the faucet and slapped his hand to his forehead, finally understanding why chocolate wasn’t coming out."

Anyway, today I've just been cackling like a silly person at all three of these. Hope you can find some of the joy, too. Also, head over and do this:

Mingle 240

Happy Monday Afternoon!

Happy Father's Day!

Sadly, I can't be celebrating Father's Day with my daddy today, but I'm thinking alot about him. I'm enjoying the crap out of these old photos of him and I:
"Hey dad, show me how to get my tan on....Oh, you do this with your arms? On it."
I still sleep with my hand under my face like that. So, weird.
"Pick me up. I need to deck the halls....LIKE NOW."
Hey, bangs. Hey, pink pants.
Not sure what my face is doing...probably trying to squeeze out an unwilling smile at the sight of a new baby in the house...now we love the Nugget.
I've always been a daddy's girl and love him so much. People always tell us we're very similar. I also have strange, small physical attributes of his. Anyway, love you Dad. Thanks for everything.

Jun 17, 2011

I've got a weekend for the record books planned. One of my best buddies' bachelorette weekend is commencing in a couple of hours and am psyched. In addition to the bride being one of my all time faves....

...all the party attendants are some of my closest friends who I'm DYING to catch up with:

...plus a couple more notables. I cannot stinking wait. I can't reveal too much about the agenda (bride surprises), but it's going to be epic. I'm going to focus on being an adult this weekend, but don't have high hopes for that mission.

For the next 48 hours I'll be in this mode with all my best pals:

Be jealous.

Have a fun weekend blog loves!

Day 1.

Happy Friday gang! Today I've begun my brand new life as an at-home working person. It's awesome so far. I got up on time, feeling chipper, ready to get some stuff done. Of course, I'm feeling productive for the first time EVER and can't find much to work on. Champagne problems, I guess.

So, although I'm still in full gypsy mode, I'm dreaming of how I'l decorate my new home office. I presume I won't have anywhere near this much space/cuteness to work with...but these are some that I'm LOVING:

Ah, decorating dreamland, how I love thee. Well, I'm excited. I'm hoping this means a calmer, happier, more productive me. And I think we're off to a good start. Do any of you work from home? Any tips on how to make the most out of it?

Sidenote: Welcome to any new visitors from the Social Parade! Leave me a comment and I'll check you out! Thanks for stopping by!
