90's Country Wednesday
Hello all! I'm coming to you from a veritable hotbed of sweet jams and even sweeter memories - my office on 90's Country Wednesday. It's a new thing I'm trying. So far, it's pretty much the best thing that's happened this week.
I headed down this rabbit hole because of my best buddies - as tends to happen when we get on an email/text chain. One member of the group proposed that George Strait was an impeccable cure to her Fat Tuesday hangover. Just to see if she's correct (even though I'm not hung over), I took to Grooveshark and set myself up a phat playlist.
All the greats are on there, but here's just a tiny taste of the mastery flowing into my brain this afternoon:
And since I've been on this kick all day, the music's magnetic genius has drawn many office mates into my little space to enjoy. It's a very interesting sociological experiment to poll the masses about what these particular tracks remind them of. For me? Middle school. Not exactly my glory days, but glorious nonetheless.
So, is this the Texan in me talking, or do the rest of you have sweet memories of 90's country music? This could be something I discuss for the next few Wednesdays, so I hope you do.

Garth Brooks
He's probably my favorite, and the hits are endless. I can't even think too much about my favorite, it's too hard (that's what she said). A good go-to:
Reba McEntire
Fancy lives in infamy in my group. There's just no other way to put it. She might have been just plain white trash...
George Strait
Isn't he dreamy? Boy, that man makes me wish it were 1992 and I was his groupie. Maybe I still could be...And since I've been on this kick all day, the music's magnetic genius has drawn many office mates into my little space to enjoy. You are my twin. Give me some New Way To Fly. Obscurity, I know.
ReplyDeleteI really wish you could see the picture of me as an 8 year old meeting Tanya Tucker. I have a chili bowl and white wash jeans, she is in a red and black country-esque body suit, with the required country tassles and bandana print, of course.
ReplyDeleteAhhh...George! So dreamy.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your picks!
George Strait is my favorite! He's the only person on my 'must-see' concert list that I've never been able to see. He's never come close enough to where I live. 90s country music is the best.
ReplyDeleteGreat song choices and great artists! George Strait makes me weak in the knees, I think he's total dreamboat.
ReplyDeleteWhen I’m looking for the latest country music, I always end up in one spot – 103.1 WIRK. I was even lucky enough to catch up with Keith Van Allen in the streets and got free ‘Rib Round Up’ tickets. Just one of the many events that keep me tuned into www.wirk.com
