8 Random things about me

Buzzing around the blog world these days is this 8 questions tagging/linky game thing. This time, a dear blog friend in FREAKING AUSTRALIA has tagged me! It blows my little brain apart that, thanks to the interwebs, someone half a world (literally) away is reading this and I keep up with her! It amazes me! It's like pen pals but at super futurey space travel speed!

So, thanks so, so much to Fiona at a reader's random ramblings... for thinking of me for this! So, if you woke up this morning wanting to learn some random stuff about me, today is your day! You have Fiona to thank.

1. What's your favourite thing to cook?
Baked treats. I love all sweet things. Although I do love to snack on the dough/batter as I'm cooking, I really love to give people sweet treats that I've made as little love tokens. Unfortunately, manfriend doesn't have a sweet tooth whatsoever. I still can't wrap my brain around that one....

2. Do you play an instrument? Which one? How well?
I took piano lessons as a child. My mom made me do it. I dreaded it. My teacher was totally creepy and he came over to my house for the lessons. I begged her to let me quit and she finally did. Now, I REALLY regret that I can barely play a few short tunes. I wish I could play it so, so bad. This is one of the many items that has emerged that I wish I'd listened to her about.

3. What's something that you've always wanted to try, but were too afraid?
I'd love to skydive someday. I think it would be so exhilarating, but then when I think too much about it I realize that you're jumping out of a plane for fun. And that's just dumb.

4. What's your opinion on natural therapies? Do you use any?
Not really. I believe in doctors and I believe in pharmaceuticals. Like alot. I have allergies that really knock me on my ass at certain times of the year. Medicines that render my sinuses completely sterile seem to be the only cure. I"m open to natural cures, but haven't really had the need so far I guess.

5. If you had $100 and could go out and buy yourself anything, what would you buy?
These:
I'm dying for some cognac brown riding-style boots for this fall/winter. I have a hard time convincing myself to purchase winter boots, as they don't get tons of wear in Texas. But, if I found $100 on the ground, this is def what I'd get!

6. Do you have any siblings? Brothers or sisters? Do you get on?
I have a sister. I call her nugget. She's completely awesome, although can get sassy. We get a long quite well I'd say. She's turning out to be coooler/better than me, which I try not to think about too much.

7. Do you support any charities? Which one(s)? Why?
Susan G. Komen. Breast cancer is something we have in my family. Genetically, I'm in the highest risk category for developing it sometime in my life. I don't have much money to give to charities, but when I can, breast cancer-related organizations are my go-to. It's breast cancer awareness month, so I'm thinking about it alot these days. I wish I could contribute more. I'm really good at sending good vibes in the place of dollars.

8. Why do you blog?
I originally started it when I was kind of new in town. I needed something to occupy my thoughts. At the time I was really nervous about having a new job and not having many friends in my city, so coming up with a daily post kind of made me look for the sunny side of life. I made up my mind early in the game to keep negativity off of Poodleism as much as I can. That's proven to be highly therapeutic and positive for my general outlook on life. Now, I do it because I love my blog friends and love keeping my radar on for post material. And, in my supersecret (I guess not anymore) daydreams, I want to do it for a living someday.

Whoa there. I feel like some of my answers really turned serious, but thanks again to Fiona!

To all you other blog friends out there, if you want to do a post about these questions, let me know in the comments and I'll give you a super amazing shout out in an upcoming post! Help me help you get more followers!

  2. Wow! You did this post so quickly after I tagged you! Thanks so much for playing along, I really enjoyed learning more about you. Also, I found it really interesting that you support breast cancer charities - I'm a breast cancer survivor. 8 1/2 years. Hugs from me, Fiona.
