Sometimes it's the simple things in life

There are times when the workday grind can be a real bummer. But there are days that little things can just totally boost your mood. Today I'm thankful for the little things. Sparkly items, purple, treats and the like, are stuff that get me thru the morning at times. Here's what I mean:

New pens. Glorious new pens. These are Pilot G-2 pens and are my absolute favorite. I found them in the assorted girly colors you see here at The Targ (another small thing that brings me infinite pleasure) last night when shopping for various other "necessities." They became my favorite truthfully because I snagged them from someone else. I have a hard time finding pens I love because, being a lefty, I have been known to make an inky mess all over myself if the pen isn't right. These are perfect. They offer the beautiful smooth line of a fountain and the non-smudginess of a ballpoint. Halleluja. I also despise black ink. Another reason these are perfect.

Last weekend I splurged on a sparkly thing. I wanted it. I needed it. I did it. Lately I've seen some fiscal hard times and haven't gotten to treat myself as much as I've formerly been accustomed. This little item was calling out to me and I just went for it. A sparkle encrusted oversized gold watch. Part glamorous, part ghetto - all amazing. I've been wanting a watch and in my lost-voice-induced physical misery last week, I decided on some retail therapy. Bad habit. I'm having a hard time getting accustomed to something so massive on my wrist all the time, but thats just the price of fabulousness I guess. Everytime I look down I'm like "damn, that thing is sparkly" -- exactly what I wanted to get out of it.

Pinkberry. I love all kinds of FroYo, but Pinkberry was my first love in the tart yogurt world. I discovered it in the summer of 2007 when I spent the summer in NYC interning. That was the first exposure I had to the tart yogurt phenomenon which has now mushroomed all over the place. They've expanded they're business to DALLAS! Hip Hip Hooray! I finally convinced manfriend to go last night and discovered the amazing news that they've created a chocolate flavor. Whoa! This excited me more than it should have. It was totes delicious. I'll be going back asap. Heart Pinkberry. On top of it all, when you forgo fatty toppings (per my snapshot, i opted for chocolate balls, strawberry and almonds), its not that bad for you! Yes! I'm still in a good mood from the FroYo.

Sometimes you just have to step back and appreciate the things that bring mini smiles to your face. I'm beginning to believe that a long string of mini smiles is far more enjoyable than a smattering of big smiles. Pens. Sparkles. FroYo. That's all it takes.

  1. oh my god that looks so good! i'm really hungry right now, but to lazy to seek out food.

    currently: laziness > hunger

    hopefully soon: hunger > laziness

  2. I am so jealous. I want a big fat shiny Diddy watch. It could totally be CZs. I wouldn't mind. I've been scouting one for months. But I'm cheap and picky. Bad combination.

  3. Just discovered your blog and am such a fan! I have laughed out loud on several occasions.

I, too, discovered Pinkberry in 2007 (though on the other coast) while interning. Way back yonder, they only had the standard tart flavor plus I think green tea, so this chocolate business is glorious! Sadly not in Houston though.

Thanks for the comment! I"m sending you a big cuddly warm bearhug through the interwebs....
